The National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency congratulates Chief Operating Officer (COO) Nico Padovan PSM on receiving his Public Service Medal (PSM) from His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

At his Investiture Ceremony at Government House this week, Mr Padovan was awarded the PSM for outstanding public service in program and policy delivery, including supporting the recovery and reconstruction of the livestock industry in North Queensland.

Mr Padovan has served the Australian Public Service with dedication for over 30 years.

In his role with the North Queensland Livestock Industry Recovery Agency (now the Drought and Flood Agency), he was pivotal to the recovery and reconstruction of the livestock industry after the 2019 North Queensland flood event.

Mr Padovan's efforts are helping to create more disaster resilient infrastructure and communities for the future.

“Can you imagine a body of water the size of Victoria that developed in 11 days and then washed into the gulf. That’s what Nico arrived upon and helped to transform, so this is a very worth recognition. Congratulations,” His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley said.
