Our work with drought-affected communities is underpinned by the principle ‘Work together. Simplify. Act’.

On Thursday, 6 February 2020, Coordinator-General Shane Stone AC QC chaired the Agriculture Ministers' Working Group on Drought with representatives from state and territory governments, focussing on improving the effectiveness and coordination of drought recovery programs across the country.

On Friday, Mr Stone presented at the Drought Roundtable, chaired by Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud. He briefed the National Farmers' Federation, the Australian Banking Association, the Australian Local Government Association and state farming bodies on the work of our Agency, including its collaborative and pragmatic ‘boots on the ground’ approach.

The drought situation is complex and varies from region to region. No single government agency or group has all the answers. We will continue to work together to find the best ways to bring local solutions to help affected communities build resilience and preparedness to deal with both present and future drought.
