Our Regional Recovery Officer for North Queensland, Tahna Jackson, last week popped in to see Kathy Rowling, the Community Development Officer from Northern Gulf Resource Management Group. Kathy was preparing boxes to go out to participants in this year’s 'Bush Business - Empowering Growth Through Connection’.
Bush Business provides training and support for local residents on rural and remote properties in the shires of Mareeba, Etheridge and Croydon to improve their financial situation by developing their micro business ideas.
Bush Business workshops—currently online—aim to increase financial diversification, promote social and emotional wellbeing by fostering strong connections in the community, and increase community and social resilience by engaging participants with Northern Gulf staff, expert specialists and with each other. This year business ideas have ranged from apiary to arts and crafts, a publican and photography.
While meeting with Kathy, Tahna provided some information from the Australian Government to go out in the boxes with a bunch of other helpful resources for the participants.
