My name is Matt Humphrey and I am the Regional Recovery Officer for South West NSW.
I live in the Riverland town of Berri on a horticultural property, which I am developing into a mixed fruit and nut block with my wife and two children.
Before joining the National Drought and Flood Agency I worked for the SA state government in a variety of agricultural roles. I have worked with regional communities, businesses and land managers and have a passion for sustainable farming and semi-arid agricultural productive systems.
Most of my work has involved working with landholders to improve farming outcomes, such as increased production, conservation of native vegetation and undertaking pest management activities.
I have also worked in a number of research and teaching roles, including work with university students and teaching in indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.
As the Regional Recovery Officer for South West NSW I look forward to meeting and working with communities in the region. I will be on the road as often as possible and available to meet in town or on your property, over a cup of tea or at the back of a ute.
