Achacha plantation ready to bear fruit again

Palm Creek

Bruce and Helen Hill own Australia's only commercial achacha plantation at Palm Creek in the Burdekin Shire. Similar to a lychee, the fruit is sweet and tangy. Just as this year's crop was ready to harvest the flood ruined their fruit, washed out kilometres of internal roading and destroyed irrigation equipment. Using the jointly funded $75,000 Special Disaster Assistance Recovery Grant, Bruce and Helen have made essential property and infrastructure repairs - their plantation is ready to be fruitful again.
