Saving the fish and fending off a crocodile at Spring Creek

The team at Spring Creek Barramundi hadn’t experienced a natural disaster like the January-February monsoon trough in over 16 years.

Major flash flooding around Townsville cut off their roads, blew out pine walls, collapsed the roof of their processing room and eroded their production ponds.

With the help of a $75,000 Special Disaster Assistance Recovery Grant, company CEO Brenda Pike and managers Tim Bade and Simon Osborne have begun rebuilding their infrastructure and getting staff back onsite.

“Being able to access these funds really helped us to get back underway as quickly as possible and helped to minimise some of the financial hardship felt after the disaster.”
